About Schools Messenger

WHAT IS SCHOOLS MESSENGER

Schools messenger is an affordable user friendly mobile application developed in South Africa. This application is developed for schools to communicate with parents using live feeds and direct messaging. This application includes real live time feed such as school news, attendance, homework and assignment activities and much more. A message can use up to 560 characters , so there is no limitation.

THE PURPOSE OF SCHOOLS MESSENGER

  • To improve communication between institutions and parents
  • To allow parents to be more involved in their children’s school activities, assignments, sports days etc.
  • To reduce the carbon print. Save on the usages of electricity, paper, ink etc.
  • Parents will no longer have to wait for newsletters and no more concerns of information not reaching parents, moving communication to a paperless enviroment
  • Receive real time news feeds. Keeping parents in the know with the day to day school events or news
  • Receive term results directly
  • Institutions have access to lifelong data storage which is easily accessible by the institution when needed. This makes storing or accessing student information more accessible for teachers or principals and SGB

HOW DOES IT WORK?

There are two parts to the Software:

THE FIRST PART

The Sender (Principals & Teachers): They can log into the system using their own passwords. From there they can send messages to all or selected parents.

THE SECOND PART

The Receiver Parents They must download the application from the either a link or respective site e.g.: google or play store. Subscribe to the school and grade their children are in. Please note: You don't need the Parents phone numbers or any other details, as the parent is subscribing to receive message from the school for that grade. The application is available for android and iPhones. Even if a parent changes their cell phone or cell phone number, the application with the information will still be available to the parent. Schools messenger is a one way communication system. Only teachers and principals can communicate with parents. Parents can comment on the school news activity forum and send a direct e mail to the principal.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

The App is free to download from the play store. The school should be responsible for the cost to send unlimited messages to parents for all its learners. The schools can option to charge each parent per learner but most schools don't ask for a fee from the parents. Our financial relationship lies with the school and not the parents.

WHAT ARE THE FEATURES OF SCHOOLS MESSENGER?

Schools messenger has features which include
  • Attendance: This feature notifies the parent of the child’s presence in school during registration time.
  • Assignment: Any assignments due, this information will be visible to the parents. This will help parents control any assignment to be done on the due dates or before.
  • News Feed: This is a real time live feature that allows institutions to share any information with regards to the school activities with parents. Here parents are allowed to comment on any activity taking place.
  • Messaging: Principals and Teachers can send messages to parents.
  • Results: This feature allows teachers to share progress reports or end of term results directly with parents. This will avoid parents from not receiving report card that are generally sent with the student. This can also save on the usage of paper, ink and other expenses.
  • Top achiever: Schools can use this feature to show case their top students each term or annually.
It also allows parents to have more than one child on the application, even if the children are in different schools. The teachers and principal will use the “DASH BOARD” which is the back end side. It is user friendly and we also provide e mail help and support. These are the basic features available to all schools. The application will be custom made to each school. These basic features are available immediately. As time progresses, more features will be added to the application. The features will still be accessible by the institution and parent free of charge on the play store or on the website.
